Wound care technology makers team up with telehealth experts to develop Google Glass applications for wound care.
Wound Care Advantage is looking to bring Google Glass to outpatient wound care settings, teaming up with telehealth systems maker Pristine to develop hands-free clinical support through the wearable technology.
WCA hopes to leverage Pristine’s EyeSight technology, the only HIPAA-compliant video communications platform developed for Google Glass and healthcare settings. The program streams real-time audio and video to a variety of mobile technologies, including iOS and Android devices as well as Macs and PCs.
“The fastest way to treat a patient is to have the experts see the issue as quickly as possible, allowing for rapid treatment,” WCA CEO Mike Comer said in prepared remarks. “The longer it takes to get a patient to appropriate experts, the higher the likelihood that the wound can become either life threatening or require an amputation. More than 62% of all amputees will die within 5 years. Pristine’s Google Glass app, EyeSight, goes a long way to helping WCA enable better outcomes.”
WCA plans to implement new Google Glass technology at its partnering wound centers, according to a press release.
